Events:

As of March 2014, SWARM has permanently ceased all event promotion. After over two decades of dedicated commitment to the propagation of the underground techno sound and the associated cultural ethos of the techno party movement we have decided to continue our ongoing commitment to the scene through new and exciting projects.

You can still catch the SWARM founders Vic Zee and Mookie mixing it up and playing live at your local techno event from time to time.

Keep it real people, keep it underground.

SOME PREVIOUS SWARM EVENTS HAVE INCLUDED:

The SWARM & TRENCH crews combine forces to bring you a proper two room underground techno event showcasing a diverse pool of talented local techno misfits.

Come and support the wondrous local talent as they spontaneously enter a state of mystical metamorphism, that is permeated by love and tranquility. A state of being where all is magic and beauty, highlighting the unique bond that is human kind.... wait actually....

Fuck that!! Downstairs we have the BASS BUNKER... a bunker dedicated to bass worship in the context of thumpin' 4 to the floor sound, visual mayhem and a no holds barred music policy that encourages proper underground techno toughness at every level.

Upstairs you will find the Tech Trench, no less thumpin' but with a slightly different take on the situation, guaranteed to get every part of your body moving.

So, all in all, no we don't have an international artist for this one, but the question that begs to be answered is this:

Must every event in Sydney be graced by some type of international artist to warrant it legitimacy?

Don't get us wrong we are happy to host international performers when ever possible, indeed in April Swarm will be host to the insane sounds of Industrialyzer (Portugal).

All we are saying is that there clearly needs to a balance and rather than shun or view local only events as something inferior the opposite should occur, where the locals are embraced and supported to the fullest at every given opportunity. In lieu of the impending legal changes to Sydney night life/culture, support of the local scene is not merely important, it is imperative if anything is survive and flourish in the coming months and years.

That is all.

Due to circumstances beyond out control, the venue for this event has now changed.

4. Get ready for a seriously awesome night of dark, deep, seriously intense underground techno from Alex Bau (live) and the rest of the wicked local line up across 2 rooms.

SWARM is extremely excited to bring you German underground techno supremo Alex Bau on Friday the 7th of September!

This is Alex’s maiden performance in Australia… so in his own immortal words Alex is totally psyched to deliver nothing but “loads of bass for the people!”

BRING IT ON WE SAY!

The self-proclaimed “German Techno Machine”, Alex Bau is a name which has been synonymous with quality underground techno for many years, focusing on the deep, dark and gritty side of audio alchemy.

For those that are already familiar with the name, thoughts of bass heavy, deep, dark, hypnotic brooding techno undoubtedly ensue, whether on a minimal tip or on the harder edge, Alex Bau’s sound is unique and unrelenting.

Often though, Alex Bau’s techno sound can be hard to succinctly categorise – yet it can be argued that this is indeed one of the true hallmarks of great cutting edge underground electronic music. For it electronic music such as this that has the profound and innate ability to easily surpass generic genres and can therefore be appreciated simply for what it is, perfect dance floor/party music.

SWARM has also always taken pride in being able to facilitate the perfect environment for losing oneself within an audio vortex of rhythmic bliss. Most of us are already well aware of the fact, that when all the many variables align, there is actually very little else that can compare to the experience of a profoundly moving musical moment.

This has always been our sincere and genuine motivation, and we therefore always take great care in associating ourselves with electronic music artists, both domestic and international that unambiguously exemplify exactly what it is that SWARM stands for; proper underground techno!

Alex Bau is most definitely no exception.

For those of you that aren’t too familiar with Alex Bau’s sound as yet, you need only visit www.alexbau.de - www.clr.net in order to listen to the plethora of material he has written or remixed since 1992.

Alex has also worked and collaborated with pivotal techno artists such as Chris Leibing, Pfirter, Florian Meindl, Mark Broom, Brian Sanhaji just to name a few. Alex has multiple releases on such labels as CLR, Zenit, Sino, Toneman as well as his own label Credo.

However talk is often cheap…

The proof is always in the pudding so to speak, so on Friday the 7th of September, come and experience a genuine dose of proper underground electronic music, served up warm, delicious and with plenty of custard at the relaxed and perfectly suited confines of the Valve Bar & Venue in Tempe.

SATURDAY - 5 MAY 2012.

Get ready for a night of absolutely thumping proper underground techno debauchery served up SWARM SYDNEY STYLE on Saturday the 5th of May!

Greetings underground techno folk of Sydney (and beyond),

Get ready for what is destined to be one of the most insane, out of control, genuinely underground techno events of this year!

SWARM is proud of the fact that we can unashamedly lay claim to having consistently waved the ‘underground techno’ flag for over fifteen years in Sydney, regardless of whether harder edged techno was perceived as popular or unpopular we have always defiantly stayed true to our initial ethic, keep it underground, keep it real, expect nothing, give everything, make it loud!

Our genre of choice therefore, the harder edged percussive 4/4 based underground techno sound, be it acid, funky, tribal, straight, slamming or whatever way you wish to describe it, is something that needs to be understood as precious and worth protecting. Regardless of whether this sound is ‘massive’ overseas or not, if the extinction of the sound in Sydney occurs, then path to reigniting the scene will become almost impenetrably blocked.

Naturally therefore we have aligned ourselves with likeminded individuals, punters and performers alike that have gravitated towards our sound throughout the years, one of those individuals is Chris Liberator, an artist whose personal contribution to the global under techno scene often defies convenient description. Chris Liberator is nothing short of a techno ambassador par excellence, and we are immensely proud to have had him becoming such an intrinsic part of SWARM throughout the years.
A Chris Liberator vinyl crate is essentially nothing less than a treasure-trove of insane, fresh, extra funky, ultra-stompin’ mostly unreleased PROPER UNDERGROUND TECHNO!

So what’s the deal this time?

Well the time has come to experience Chris Liberator in a totally different light. In celebration of the StayUp Forever collective reaching vinyl release number 100… on Saturday the 5th of May 2012, Chris Liberator will be joined by partner in crime Sterling Moss for a totally original 100% live set at the Valve Bar in Tempe (one of the best underground live music venues in Sydney).

Never before heard or performed in Australia, this proper old school, acid infused live set is guaranteed to be an absolute onslaught of all that is funky, slamming, screaming, thumping bass heavy, stomping, tribal, percussive and fundamentally underground! Experience it and be part of Sydney underground techno history.

Miss it at your own risk!

This is a serious one off opportunity that no self-respecting purveyor of the techno sound can afford to ignore.

Add some local flavour and you get one of the tastiest local, interstate and international artist SWARM line ups to date.

He is the owner of the innovative and genre defying label Asymmetric. He has also been responsible for a large and diverse back catalogue of releases on a wide variety of labels and projects around the World.

>>>Asymmetric Records :

Inigo is now heavily committed to his own label, Asymmetric. Formed in January 1999 as a label specifically to output his material it is the home to his most personal music. High on the agenda for Asymmetric is to challenge and introduce ideas whilst maintaining a distinctive and coherent techno foundation. Releases to date have been met with both critical and dance floor acclaim.

>>>Worldwide DJ Assault :

Alongside this pioneering release schedule has grown an increasingly hectic worldwide DJ schedule - including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Israel, Poland, Portugal, Scotland, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, USA, etc.
